Enter our Farmyard for even more farm fun. You can visit the goats and alpacas, play in our Music Garden, and sit back to laugh at the Singing Chicken Show. Take a relaxing stroll in our Lavender Labyrinth. We have a maze for everyone at Dr. Maze's Farm. Get lost in the Tall Wall Maze or clamber through our Spider Rope Challenge. Our logic mazes, including the Color Maze, the No Right Turn Maze, and the Number Maze keep lots of folks puzzling. And, new this year, solve our Farmyard Crossword Hunt. Our big Sunflower/Cornfield Maze opens in August.

No Autumn is complete without a visit to the Pumpkin Patch. Dr. Maze's Farm is the place to come to pick a perfect pumpkin from our huge patch in the fall -- regardless whether you are searching for the biggest, baddest pumpkin for Halloween carving or a tasty heirloom variety for your family's special Thanksgiving dinner pumpkin pie.

We also hand craft a variety of unique botanical products such as teas, culinary and aromatic herbs, essential oils, soaps, lip balms, and lotions produced from our own plants grown right here on the farm. Our Rosemary-Peppermint Lotion Bars and our Velvet Monkey tea are two customer favorites

INFORMATION: Rhubarb, asparagus and tulips in April. Late spring and early summer bring more flowers. Eight varieties of berries, some you-pick. Fresh veggies and Gravenstein apples with tree fruit from Eastern WA. Fall brings the Great Pumpkin Patch featuring 40 acres of fun. Squash, gourds, corn stalks and a corn maze. Hay rides to the fields loaded with pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colors. The barrel train, face painting, inflatable pumpkin playground, farm animals and the new Recycle Junction are great fun. For Christmas cut your own tree or choose a freshly cut one. Beautiful wreaths, garlands and ornaments are to be found in the old barn. The latte and ice cream shack opens with tulips and closes with trees. We feature fresh eggs, Golden Glen’s cheeses, our jams and syrup, pies and pickles.

DIRECTIONS: From I-5 take Exit 227 “Kincaid St.” west to 3rd St., right on 3rd and cross Skagit River to traffic light at Wall St. Take a left here and road goes right in one block and becomes McLean Rd. Go west to farm on left side between Beaver Marsh Rd. and Bradshaw Rd.

INFORMATION: A large selection of carving pumpkins, and traditional pumpkins in “old-fashioned orange.” There are also non-traditional pumpkins in all colors: French Red, Australian Blue Cheese, Bucksin and Lamina White. There are also cooking pumpkins used to make a great pie or to be a wonderful addition to any of your baking needs. There are a wide variety of squash: Acorns to Hubbards and everything in-between! We grow approx. 15 different varieties, all vine ripe. We have ornamentals in all colors of autumn: gourds, ornamental corn and stalks to decorate your home and yard for the entire fall season. Gordon’s orchards are full of Jonagold apples, one of the greatest tastes of autumn.

At Gordon Skagit Farms we have a large retail display area surrounded by showcase paintings of autumn scenes. The display area is always changing, and every year we add new and interesting ways to show off our products. The farm has a 14-acre you-pick pumpkin and squash patch with a small animal farm area. Berries are sold by the pound and are weighed when you are done picking right there in the field. Since we use only natural fertilizers, our berries are safe to eat right from the field!

Pre-picked berries and pumpkins are also available in season in the Farm Market, as are canning supplies. We have recipe packets available for many of our in-season berries, fruits and veggies, so be sure to stop by the Customer Service Desk in the Market to pick up yours!

Picking Pumpkins - Sherman Farms Experience

Why do some people go to the store and grab a pumpkin?  With little kids, it is such a great adventure to go out and pick your own from the field, something that should not be missed!




Tracy, myself, and my boys - Dylan 2, Carter 4 - took off to grab pumpkins one Saturday afternoon in early October.  It was a nice less than hour drive for us up to Sherman Farms, where we arrived too early to pick pumpkins.  A failing of our early-rising family is that we are often arriving at places and waiting for them to open!  So with 45 minutes to kill, we took a nice drive around the historic Ebey's Praire.  All the fields have signs that identify the crops growing in the fields.  At this time of year, several of the fields were already harvested, but it was still fun to read while driving and see what is grown in that area.  Two minutes down the road, you hit water - the road dives off the bluff and there is a little park on the right.  The beach there is long and gravelly, and there are signs giving directions to several trails through the historic area and to the historic blockhouse.  But that was another trip, this trip was about Pumpkins!

Now that Sherman's farm was open, we came in and started looking at all the produce and items for sale in the little farm store and told the nice manager that we wanted to pick pumpkins.  It seemed like a nice family operations, from younger teenagers through a couple generations older helping out with the store, putting out produce, and firing up the tractor for the ride to the pumpkin field!

The Sherman's fired up their huge Tonka tractor - since we arrived right as they opened, we got the honor of  the first tractor ride of the day!

The kids loved the ride in the tractor out into the middle of the pumpkin field.  We had bought a pumpkin each, so he pulled the tractor out down a side tract, then we piled out of the wagon to each find the perfect pumpkin for Halloween!

Of course, Dylan had a different strategy, which was grab every pumpkin he could find and make a big pile....  two-year-olds have their own wisdom.

After gathering up and limiting to one each, we took the tractor back across the fields to the farm store/shack.  I could not resist buying a couple extras - two "sweet meat" pumpkins and a very large Hubbard Sugar Squash.

It was a great experience with the whole family having a great time!  And did I mention the price?  $4 each per pumpkin, $5 for the giant Hubbard?  Economical as well!
